It is a very unusual person who is happy with how they look and doesn’t want to be more beautiful than they are now. Vast sums of money are spent on face-lifts, liposuction, body piercing, tattoos, hair dye, make-up, visits to the salon – and that’s just men!
In addition, hours and hours of time and vast amounts of emotional energy and commitment are spent on beauty.
Most cultures are absorbed with the issue. Movies, TV, magazines, advertisements all play on the desire within to be beautiful – or more beautiful! The important thing to remember about physical beauty, therefore, is that it is a picture of a greater beauty.
The Bible speaks of “the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight.” Inner beauty is far more valuable in the sight of God than outer beauty.
